2013 Structural Steel Design Award
2014 RIBA South West Award
2014 Civic Trust Award
Construction team Project Architect for HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction Ltd to deliver the Borough of Poole's 90m twin bascule road, cycle and pedestrian bridge across Poole Harbour on the UK's south coast. The new crossing is the key component in the town’s strategy for future growth, and opens up to eight times per day for maritime traffic, giving rise to a design driven by the need for robustness and reliability. The restrained design of the structure when closed undergoes a dramatic transformation during its opening sequence, the geometry of the opening leaves evoking the maritime context of Poole.
I was also Project Architect for the competition-winning design whilst working for Wilkinson Eyre.
The bridge was completed in March 2012.
